✧ The Prohibition of Consuming Domestic Donkey Meat

أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى قَالَ

أَصَبْنَا يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ حُمُرًا خَارِجًا مِنَ الْقَرْيَةِ فَاطَّبَخْنَاهَا فَأَتَانَا مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «قَدْ حَرَّمَ لُحُومَ الْحُمُرِ فَأَكْفِئُوا الْقُدُورَ بِمَا فِيهَا فَأَكْفيْنَاهَا»

✧ We acquired donkeys on the day of Khaybar that had come out of the village, so we cooked them. Then the caller of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden the meat of donkeys, so overturn the cooking pots with what is in them. So we overturned them.
