أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَرْمَلَةَ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ» قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَوْ كَلْبَ حَرْثٍ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. ʿAlī b. Ḥujr
  2. Ismāʿīl
  3. Muḥammad b. Abū Ḥarmalah
  4. Sālim b. ʿAbdullāh from his father

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever keeps a dog, except a livestock dog or a hunting dog, one qirat is deducted from his deeds every day." Abdullah said: Abu Hurayrah said: "Or a farming dog."
