✧ If he finds another dog with his dog

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي السَّفَرِ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ وَعَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ وَعَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قُلْتُ أُرْسِلُ كَلْبِي فَأَجِدُ مَعَ كَلْبِي كِلَابًا أُخَرَ لَا أَدْرِي أَيُّهُا أَخَذَهُ قَالَ «لَا تَأْكُلْ فَإِنَّمَا سَمَّيْتَ عَلَى كَلْبِكَ وَلَمْ تُسَمِّ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ»

✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, saying: “I send out my dog and find with my dog other dogs; I do not know which of them seized it.” He replied: “Do not eat, for you invoked the name only over your dog and not over anything else.”
