✧ If he dedicates his money for the purpose of a vow

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ مَعْدَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ إِنَّمَا نَجَّانِي بِالصِّدْقِ وَإِنَّ مِنْ تَوْبَتِي أَنْ لَا أُحَدِّثُ إِلَّا صِدْقًا مَا بَقِيتُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ وَإِنَّ مِنْ تَوْبَتِي أَنْ أَنْخَلِعَ مِنْ مَالِي صَدَقَةً إِلَى اللهِ وَإِلَى رَسُولِهِ قَالَ «أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ بَعْضَ مَالِكَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ» قُلْتُ فَإِنِّي أَمْسِكُ سَهْمِيَ الَّذِي بِخَيْبَرَ

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, indeed Allah saved me only through truthfulness, and part of my repentance is that I will speak nothing but the truth as long as I live, if Allah wills, and part of my repentance is that I divest myself of my wealth as charity to Allah and to His Messenger. He said: "Keep some of your wealth, for it is better for you." I said: Then I will keep my share which is in Khaybar.
