أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا الْأَزْدِيَّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى» قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ جَيِّدٌ وَلَكِنَّ أَصْحَابَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ خَالِفُوا عَلِيًّا الْأَزْدِيَّ خَالَفَهُ سَالِمٌ وَنَافِعٌ وَطَاوُسٌ

Translation

  5. ʿAlī al-Azdī
  6. Ibn ʿUmar

✧ On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "The prayer of the night and the day is two by two." Abū 'Abd al-Raḥmān said to us: This is a good chain, but the companions of Ibn 'Umar disagreed with 'Alī al-Azdī. Sālim, Nāfi', and Ṭāwūs disagreed with him.
