✧ The virtue of the dawn prayer

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ فَقَالَ «أَمَّا إِنَّكُمْ سَتَرَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ هَذَا فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَلَى صَلَاةٍ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا فَافْعَلُوا» ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا} [طه 130]

✧ We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he looked at the moon on the night of the full moon and said: “Indeed, you will see your Lord as you see this moon; if you are able not to be overwhelmed and miss a prayer before sunrise and before sunset, then do so.” Then he recited: {And glorify with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting} [Ta Ha 130].
