أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

«أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَسْتَشْرِفَ الْعَيْنَ وَالْأُذُنَ وَأَنْ لَا نُضَحِّيَ بِمُقَابَلَةٍ وَلَا مُدَابَرَةٍ وَلَا بَتْرَاءَ وَلَا خَرْقَاءَ»

✧ “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to examine the eyes and ears, and not to sacrifice an animal with its ear cut off in front (muqabalah), nor one with its ear cut off from the back (mudabarah), nor one with its ear cut off completely (batra’), nor one with a pierced ear (kharqa’).”
