✧ Those who are killed in the path of Allah and have a debt

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو سَمِعَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ ضُرِبْتُ بِسَيْفِي هَذَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ صَابِرًا مُحْتَسِبًا مُقْبِلًا غَيْرَ مُدْبِرٍ حَتَّى أُقْتَلَ أَتُكَفَّرُ عَنِّي خَطَايَايَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَ دَعَاهُ فَقَالَ هَذَا جِبْرِيلُ يَقُولُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ عَلَيْكَ دَيْنٌ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was on the pulpit and said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you think if I am struck with this sword of mine in the path of Allah, patiently, seeking reward, advancing and not retreating, until I am killed, will my sins be expiated?" He said, "Yes." When he turned away, he called him and said, "This is Jibril saying, 'Except if you have a debt.'"
