أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَبَايَعَهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَجَاءَ مِنَ الْغَدِ مَحْمُومًا فَقَالَ أَقِلْنِي ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْمَدِينَةُ كَالْكِيرِ تَنْفِي خَبَثَهَا وَيَنْصَعُ طِيبُهَا»

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and pledged allegiance to him upon Islam. The next day he came with a fever and said: “Release me,” three times. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Madinah is like the bellows; it expels its dross and its pure essence shines forth.”
