✧ The virtue of shortcoming (or negligence)

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ وَهِيَ أُمُّ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَتْ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ» قَالُوا وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ» قَالُوا وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ قَالَ «وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ»

Translation

✧ I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "O Allah, forgive those who shave." They said, "And those who shorten?" He said, "O Allah, forgive those who shave." They said, "And those who shorten?" He said, "And those who shorten."
