أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ قَالَ سَمِعَتْهُ يَقُولُ شَهِدْتُ عُمَرَ بِجَمْعٍ فَقَالَ

إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ كَانُوا لَا يُفِيضُونَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ وَيَقُولُونَ أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «خَالَفَهُمْ ثُمَّ أَفَاضَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ»

✧ The people of the Jahiliyyah would not make the ifadah until the sun rose, and they would say, “Shine, Thabir!” And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ differed from them, then made the ifadah before the sun rose.
