أَخْبَرَنِي هِلَالُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ هُوَ ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَجَّ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَأَمَرَنِي عَلْقَمَةُ
أَنْ أَلْزَمَهُ فَلَزِمْتُهُ فَأَتَيْنَا الْمُزْدَلِفَةَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ حِينَ طَلَعَ الْفَجْرَ قَالَ قُمْ قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنَّ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ مَا رَأَيْتُكَ صَلَّيْتَ فِيهَا قَطُّ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ كَانَ لَا يُصَلِّي هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ إِلَّا هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ مِنْ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «هُمَا صَلَاتَانِ تُؤَخَّرَانِ عَنْ وَقْتِهِمَا صَلَاةُ الْمَغْرِبِ بَعْدَمَا يَأْتِي النَّاسُ الْمُزْدَلِفَةَ وَصَلَاةُ الْغَدَاةِ حِينَ يَبْزُغُ الْفَجْرُ فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ»

✧ To keep close to him, so I kept close to him. Then we came to Muzdalifah, and when it was the time when dawn broke, he said, “Get up.” I said, “O Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman, at this hour I have never seen you pray.” He said, “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do that.” Zuhayr said: And it was not in the Book of Allah that he would not pray at this hour except this prayer in this place on this day. ʿAbd Allah said: “They are two prayers that are delayed from their times: the Maghrib prayer after the people arrive at Muzdalifah, and the Fajr prayer when dawn breaks. For I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing that.”
