✧ How is prayer in the month of Ramadan?

الْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينَ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ

أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَائِشَةَ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كَيْفَ كَانَتْ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي رَمَضَانَ؟ قَالَتْ مَا كَانَ يَزِيدُ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَلَا فِي غَيْرِهِ عَلَى إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً يُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا فَلَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْ حُسْنِهِنَّ وَطُولِهِنَّ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا فَلَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْ حُسْنِهِنَّ وَطُولِهِنَّ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي ثَلَاثًا قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتَنَامُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُوتِرَ قَالَ «يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّ عَيْنَيَّ تَنَامَانِ وَلَا يَنَامُ قَلْبِي» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ اسْمُهُ كَيْسَانَ

✧ That he informed him that he asked 'A'ishah, the Mother of the Believers: How was the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Ramadan? She said: "He did not increase in Ramadan or at other times beyond eleven rak'ahs. He would pray four, so do not ask about their excellence and length. Then he would pray four, so do not ask about their excellence and length. Then he would pray three." 'A'ishah said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do you sleep before you perform witr?' He said: 'O 'A'ishah, my eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep.'" Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: "Abu Sa'id's name is Kaysan."
