أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَنْصُورٌ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ

«كُنَّا نَحْزِرُ قِيَامَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ» فَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الظُّهْرِ قَدْرَ ثَلَاثِينَ آيَةً قَدْرَ سُورَةِ السَّجْدَةِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ وَفِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنَ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى قَدْرِ الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ وَحَزَرْنَا قِيَامَهُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ مِنَ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ خَالَفَهُ أَبُو عَوَانَةَ

✧ "We used to estimate the standing of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Dhuhr and ʿAsr." We estimated his standing in Dhuhr to be the length of thirty verses, about the length of Sūrat al-Sajdah, in the first two rakʿahs, and in the last two on half of that. And we estimated his standing in the first two rakʿahs of ʿAsr to be about the length of the last two of Dhuhr, and we estimated his standing in the last two rakʿahs of ʿAsr to be on half of that. Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said to us: Abū ʿAwānah disagreed with him.
