أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ مُجَالِدِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ خَارِجَةَ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
نَزَلَتْ {وَمَنْ يُقْتَلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاؤُهُ جَهَنَّمُ خَالِدًا فِيهَا} [النساء 93] أَشْفَقْنَا مِنْهَا فَنَزَلَتِ الْآيَةُ الَّتِي فِي الْفُرْقَانِ {وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ} [الفرقان 68]

✧ The verse {And whoever kills a believer deliberately, his recompense is Hell, abiding therein} [al-Nisa’ 93] was revealed, and we were distressed by it. Then the verse in al-Furqan was revealed: {And those who do not call upon another god besides Allah, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except by right} [al-Furqan 68].
