✧ The Sign of Laylat al-Qadr

قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُ زِرًّا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ تَخْتَلِجُ لِحْيَتُهُ كِبَرًا فَسَأَلْتُهُ كَمْ بَلَغْتَ؟ قَالَ عِشْرِينَ وَمِائَةَ سَنَةٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أُبَيًّا يَقُولُ «لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ لَيْلَةُ سَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ»

Translation

✧ I saw Zirr in the mosque, his beard quivering from old age, so I asked him: How old have you reached? He said: One hundred and twenty years. He said: I heard Ubayy say: "Laylat al-Qadr is the night of the twenty-seventh."
