✧ Who used to observe (i'tikaf) every year and then traveled

أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ «يَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَسَافَرَ عَامًا فَلَمْ يَعْتَكِفْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ قَابِلٌ اعْتَكَفَ عِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً الِاجْتِهَادُ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ وَالْتِمَاسُ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ فِيهَا»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ used to observe i'tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan, then he traveled one year and did not observe i'tikaf. The following year he observed i'tikaf for twenty nights, exerting himself in the last ten nights and seeking Laylat al-Qadr among them.
