أَخْبَرَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ شَهْرٍ أَفَأَقْضِيهِ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّكَ دَيْنٌ كُنْتَ قَاضِيَهُ عَنْهَا؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَدَيْنُ اللهِ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُقْضَى» قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ فَقَالَ الْحَكَمُ وَسَلَمَةُ بْنُ كُهَيْلٍ وَنَحْنُ جَمِيعًا جُلُوسٌ حَيْثُ حَدَّثَ مُسْلِمٌ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَقَالَا سَمِعْنَا مُجَاهِدًا يَذْكُرُهَا عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
Translation

- al-Qāsim b. Zakariyyā
✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allah, my mother died owing a month’s fast; shall I make it up for her?” He said, “If your mother had a debt, would you pay it on her behalf?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Then the debt owed to Allah is more deserving of being paid.” Sulayman said: Al-Hakam and Salamah b. Kuhayl, while we were all sitting together when Muslim narrated this hadith, said: “We heard Mujahid mention it from Ibn ‘Abbas.”
