✧ The fast of Sha'ban

أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَصُومُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ لَا يُفْطِرُ وَيُفْطِرُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ لَا يَصُومُ وَلَمْ أَرَهُ فِي شَهْرٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُ صِيَامًا فِي شَعْبَانَ كَانَ يَصُومُ شَعْبَانَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا بَلْ كَانَ يَصُومُ شَعْبَانَ كُلَّهُ

Translation

  5. ʿĀʾishah

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast until we would say he would not break his fast, and he would break his fast until we would say he would not fast. I did not see him fast more in any month than in Sha'ban. He used to fast all of Sha'ban except a little; rather, he used to fast all of Sha'ban.
