✧ The fasting of the Day of Arafah and the virtue in it, and the mention of the differences among the narrators of the hadith of Abu Qatadah regarding it.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَعْبَدٍ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ قَالَ «يُكَفِّرُ السَّنَةَ الْمَاضِيَةَ وَالْبَاقِيَةَ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا أَجْوَدُ حَدِيثٍ عِنْدِي فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about fasting the day of Arafah. He said: "It expiates the past year and the remaining one." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: This is the best hadith in this chapter in my view, and Allah knows best.
