al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 2709

✧ Fasting one day and breaking the fast the next day, and discussing the variation of words used by the narrators in reporting the incident of Abdullah bin Amr bin al-Aas.

قَالَ وَفِيمَا قَرَأَ عَلَيْنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنٌ وَمُغِيرَةُ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ صِيَامُ دَاوُدَ كَانَ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best fasting is the fasting of Dawud; he used to fast one day and break his fast the next day."
