أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءً أَنَّ أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ الشَّاعِرَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ

بَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَنِّي أَصُومُ أَسْرُدُ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ قَالَ عَطَاءٌ وَلَا أَدْرِي كَيْفَ ذَكَرَ صِيَامَ الْأَبَدِ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا صَامَ مَنْ صَامَ الْأَبَدَ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الشَّاعِرُ اسْمُهُ السَّائِبُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ ثِقَةٌ وَابْنُهُ الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ يَرْوِي عَنْهُ الْحَدِيثَ

Translation

✧ It reached the Prophet ﷺ that I fast continuously. And he narrated the hadith. He said: 'Ata' said: I do not know how he mentioned fasting forever. He said: The Prophet ﷺ said: "He has not fasted who fasts forever." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: Abu al-Abbas al-Sha'ir's name is al-Sa'ib b. Farrukh, trustworthy, and his son al-Ala' b. Abi al-Abbas narrated the hadith from him.
