✧ The fasting of the Prophet ﷺ with his father and mother, and the mention of the differences of the narrators in that.

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ قَالَ

«مَا عَلِمْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَامَ يَوْمًا يَتَحَرَّى فَضْلَهُ عَلَى الْأَيَّامِ إِلَّا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ يَعْنِي شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ وَيَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ»

Translation

  3. ʿUbaydullāh
  4. Ibn ʿAbbās Yasʾal
  5. Ṣiyām Yawm ʿĀshūrāʾ

✧ I never knew the Prophet ﷺ to fast a day, seeking its virtue over other days, except this day—meaning the month of Ramadan—and the day of Ashura.
