أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ أَبُو الْغُصْنِ شَيْخٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ تَصُومُ حَتَّى لَا تَكَادَ تُفْطِرُ وَتُفْطِرُ حَتَّى لَا تَكَادَ أَنْ تَصُومَ إِلَّا يَوْمَيْنِ إِذَا دَخَلَا فِي صِيَامِكَ وَإِلَّا صُمْتَهُمَا قَالَ «أَيُّ يَوْمَيْنِ؟» قُلْتُ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَيَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ قَالَ «ذَانِكَ يَوْمَانِ تُعْرَضُ فِيهِمَا الْأَعْمَالُ عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ وَأُحِبُّ أَنْ يُعْرَضَ عَمَلِي وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ»

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, you fast until you almost do not break your fast, and you break your fast until you almost do not fast, except for two days if they occur within your fasting; otherwise you fast them. He said: "Which two days?" I said: Monday and Thursday. He said: "Those are two days in which deeds are presented to the Lord of the Worlds, and I love that my deeds be presented while I am fasting."
