أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ بَهْزَ بْنَ حَكِيمٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَأْتِي رَجُلٌ مَوْلَاهُ يَسْأَلُهُ مِنْ فَضْلٍ عِنْدَهُ فَيَمْنَعُهُ إِيَّاهُ إِلَّا دُعِيَ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ شُجَاعًا يَتَلَمَّظُ فَضْلَهُ الَّذِي مَنَعَ»

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Aʿlá

  3. Bahz b. Ḥakīm from his father from his grandfather

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "No man goes to his master asking for some of his surplus and his master withholds it from him, but a bald-headed snake will be summoned for him on the Day of Resurrection, licking his surplus which he withheld."
