أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «سَبَقَ دِرْهَمٌ مِائَةَ أَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَكَيْفَ؟ قَالَ «رَجُلٌ لَهُ دِرْهَمَانِ فَأَخَذَ أَحَدَهُمَا فَتَصَدَّقَ بِهِ وَرَجُلٌ لَهُ مَالٌ كَثِيرٌ فَأَخَذَ مِنْ عُرْضِ مَالِهِ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ فَتَصَدَّقَ بِهِ»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A single dirham has surpassed one hundred thousand dirhams.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, how?” He said, “A man had two dirhams and took one of them and gave it in charity, while another man had abundant wealth and took from the side of his wealth one hundred thousand and gave it in charity.”
