أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الحُصَيْنٍ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَعْتَقَ سِتَّةً مَمْلُوكِينَ لَهُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُمْ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَغَضِبَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ «قَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ لَا أُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ دَعَا مَمْلُوكِيهِ فَجَزَّأَهُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ ثُمَّ أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرَقَّ أَرْبَعَةً»
Translation

✧ A man freed six of his slaves at the time of his death, and he had no property other than them. That reached the Prophet ﷺ, and he became angry about that and said: “I considered not praying over him.” Then he called the slaves, divided them into three groups, drew lots among them, freed two, and kept four as slaves.
