✧ Prohibition of mentioning disasters except for good things

أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي وهَيْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ هَالِكٌ بِسُوءٍ فَقَالَ «لَا تَذْكُرُوا هَلْكَاكُمْ إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ»

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Ibrāhīm b. Yaʿqūb
  2. Aḥmad b. Isḥāq
  3. Whayb
  4. Manṣūr b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman from his mother
  5. ʿĀʾishah

✧ A person who died a bad death was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Do not mention your dead except with good."
