✧ The command to improve the shroud

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الرَّقِّيُّ وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَعْوَرِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ مَاتَ فَقُبِرَ لَيْلًا وَكُفِّنَ فِي كَفَنٍ غَيْرِ طَائِلٍ فَزَجَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُقْبَرَ إِنْسَانٌ لَيْلًا إِلَّا أَنْ يُضْطَرَّ إِلَى ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا وَلِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ فَلْيُحْسِنْ كَفَنَهُ»

✧ That he heard Jabir say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a sermon and mentioned a man from his companions who died and was buried at night and shrouded in a deficient shroud. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited that a person be buried at night unless compelled to do so. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you takes care of his brother, let him improve his shroud."
