أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ النَّاسُ فَصَاحُوا فَقَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ قَحَطَ الْمَطَرُ وَهَلَكَتِ الْبَهَائِمُ فَادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَسْقِيَنَا قَالَ اللهُمَّ اسْقِنَا اللهُمَّ اسْقِنَا قَالَ وَايْمُ اللهِ مَا نَرَى فِي السَّمَاءِ قَزَعَةً مِنْ سَحَابٍ قَالَ فَأَنْشَأَتْ سَحَابَةٌ فَانْتَشَرَتْ ثُمَّ إِنَّهَا أَمْطَرَتْ وَنَزَلَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَلَمْ نَزَلْ نُمْطَرُ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ الْأُخْرَى فَلَمَّا قَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ صَاحُوا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ تَهَدَّمَتِ الْبُيُوتُ وَانْقَطَعَتِ السُّبُلُ فَادْعُ اللهَ يَحْبِسَهَا عَنَّا فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا» فَتَقَشَّعَتْ عَنِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَجَعَلَتْ تُمْطِرُ حَوْلَهَا وَمَا تُمْطِرُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ قَطْرَةٌ فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَإِنَّهَا لَفِي مِثْلِ الْإِكْلِيلِ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was delivering the Friday sermon when the people stood up to him and shouted, saying: O Prophet of Allah, the rain has ceased and the livestock have perished, so call upon Allah to give us rain. He said: 'O Allah, give us rain. O Allah, give us rain.' He said: By Allah, we did not see any piece of cloud in the sky. He said: Then a cloud arose and spread, and then it rained. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ came down and prayed, then he departed. We did not stop receiving rain until the following Friday. When the Prophet ﷺ stood up to deliver the sermon, they shouted to him, saying: O Prophet of Allah, the houses have collapsed and the roads are cut off, so call upon Allah to withhold it from us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said: 'O Allah, around us and not upon us.' It cleared away from Madinah, and it rained around it while not a drop fell on Madinah. I looked at Madinah and it was like a crown.
