✧ A questioner came to the Prophet ﷺ asking him about the times of prayer, but he did not answer him. He ordered Bilal, and he made the call for the dawn prayer when dawn broke. Then he ordered him, and he made the call for the noon prayer when the sun declined, and a speaker said: "Midday has come," or he knew best. Then he ordered him, and he made the call for the afternoon prayer while the sun was high. Then he ordered him, and he made the call for the sunset prayer when the sun set. Then he ordered him, and he made the call for the night prayer when the twilight disappeared. Then he delayed the dawn prayer the next day until he finished and a speaker said: "The sun has risen," or he said. Then he delayed the noon prayer until it was near the time of the afternoon prayer of the previous day. Then he delayed the afternoon prayer until he finished and a speaker said: "The sun has turned red," or he said. Then he delayed the sunset prayer until it was near the setting of the twilight. Then he delayed the night prayer until a third of the night. And he said: "The time is between these two."
