أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلْقَمَةُ بْنُ مَرْثَدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَوَضَّأُ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْفَتْحِ صَلَّى الصَّلَوَاتُ بِوُضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ فَعَلْتَ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَفْعَلُهُ فَقَالَ «عَمْدًا فَعَلْتُهُ يَا عُمَرُ»
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to perform ablution for every prayer. Then on the day of the Conquest, he prayed the prayers with a single ablution. Umar said to him: You have done something you were not doing. He said: I did it deliberately, O Umar.
