أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ زِرَّ بْنَ حُبَيْشٍ يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ رَجُلًا يُدْعَى صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَسَّالٍ فَقَعَدْتُ عَلَى بَابِهِ فَخَرَجَ فَقَالَ مَا شَأْنُكَ؟ فَقُلْتُ أَطْلُبُ الْعِلْمَ قَالَ
إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَضَعُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا لِطَالِبِ الْعِلْمِ رِضًى بِمَا يَطْلُبُ قَالَ عَنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تَسْأَلُ؟ قُلْتُ عَنِ الْخُفَّيْنِ قَالَ كُنَّا إِذَا كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ «أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَنْزِعَهُ ثَلَاثًا إِلَّا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ وَلَكِنْ مِنْ غَائِطٍ وَبَوْلٍ وَنَوْمٍ»

✧ Indeed the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, pleased with what he seeks. He said: About what do you ask? I said: About the leather socks. He said: When we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ on a journey, he commanded us not to remove them for three [days] except from major ritual impurity, but [we may wipe] after defecation, urination, and sleep.
