أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

صَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ عَلَى الصَّفَا فَقَالَ «يَا صَبَاحَاهُ» فَاجْتَمَعَتْ إِلَيْهِ قُرَيْشٌ فَقَالُوا مَا لَكَ؟ قَالَ «أَرَأَيْتَكُمْ لَوْ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ أَنَّ الْعَدُوَّ مُصَبِّحُكُمْ أَوْ مُمَسِّيكُمْ أَكُنْتُمْ تُصَدِّقُونِي؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَإِنِّي نَذِيرٌ لَكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ» قَالَ أَبُو لَهَبٍ لِهَذَا دَعَوْتَنَا جَمِيعًا فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى {تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ } [المسد 1] إِلَى آخِرِهَا

✧ One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ climbed upon al-Safa and said, "O people of the morning!" Quraysh gathered to him and said, "What is the matter with you?" He said, "Tell me, if I informed you that the enemy will attack you in the morning or in the evening, would you believe me?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Then indeed I am a warner to you before a severe punishment." Abu Lahab said, "Is this why you have called us all together?" So Allah, Blessed and Exalted, sent down: {May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he} [al-Masad: 1] to its end.
