أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي الْأَشْعَثُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يُحِبُّ التَّيَامُنَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ فِي طُهُورِهِ وَتَنَعُّلِهِ وَتَرَجُّلِهِ» قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَسَمِعْتُ الْأَشْعَثُ بِوَاسِطٍ يَقُولُ يُحِبُّ التَّيَامُنَ ذَكَرَ شَأْنَهُ كُلَّهُ ثُمَّ سَمِعَتْهُ بِالْكُوفَةِ يَقُولُ يُحِبُّ التَّيَامُنَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to love starting with the right side whenever possible in his purification, putting on his sandals, and combing his hair. Shu'bah said: "I heard al-Ash'ath in Wasit say: 'He loved starting with the right side' and he mentioned his whole affair. Then I heard him in Kufah say: 'He loved starting with the right side whenever possible.'"
