أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ
كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَعَلْنَا نَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَمَا إِنَّكُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى رَبِّكَمْ كَمَا تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَا تُضَامُّونَ فِي رُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَلَى صَلَاتَيْنِ صَلَاةٍ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَصَلَاةٍ قَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا وَتَلَا {وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ} [طه 130]

✧ "We were with the Messenger of God ﷺ and began looking at the moon on the night of the full moon. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed, you will see your Lord as you see this moon, and you will not be harmed in seeing Him. So if you are able not to be overcome regarding two prayers—a prayer before sunrise and a prayer before sunset—then do so.' And he recited: {And glorify with praise of your Lord before} [Ṭā Hā 130]."
