أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُلَائِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ طَهْمَانَ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ كَانَتْ زَيْنَبُ تَفْخَرُ عَلَى نِسَاءِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ أَنْكَحَنِي مِنَ السَّمَاءِ» وَفِيهَا نَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْحِجَابِ خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهُمْ قُعُودٌ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ وَهُمْ قَعُودٌ فِي الْبَيْتِ حَتَّى رُئِيَ ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتَ النَّبِيِّ إِلَّا أَنْ يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ غَيْرَ نَاظِرِينَ إِنَاهُ} [الأحزاب 53]

✧ I heard Anas say that Zainab used to boast over the wives of the Prophet ﷺ, saying, "Allah married me to him from the Heavens," and this verse was revealed regarding her hijab. The Prophet ﷺ went out of the house while they were seated, then returned and found them still seated until this matter was visible in his face. So Allah revealed the verse, "O you who have believed, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without awaiting its readiness" [Al-Ahzab 53].
