أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ أَنَّ حُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ طَرَقَهُ وَفَاطِمَةَ فَقَالَ «أَلَا تُصَلُّونَ؟» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا أَنْفُسُنَا بِيَدِ اللهِ فَإِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَبْعَثَهَا بَعْثَهَا فَانْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُدْبِرٌ يَضْرِبُ فَخِذَهُ وَيَقُولُ {وَكَانَ الْإِنْسَانُ أَكْثَرَ شَيْءٍ جَدَلًا} [الكهف 54]

✧ The Prophet ﷺ knocked on his and Fāṭimah’s door and said, “Will you not pray?” I said, “O Messenger of God, our souls are in God’s hand. When He wills to send them forth, He sends them forth.” The Messenger of God ﷺ left, turning away, striking his thigh and saying, {And man is the most argumentative of all things} [al-Kahf: 54].
