أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ بَعْجَةَ بْنِ بَدْرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «خَيْرُ مَا عَاشَ النَّاسُ لَهُ رَجُلٌ يُمْسِكُ بِعِنَانِ فَرَسِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ كُلَّمَا سَمِعَ هَيْعَةً أَوْ فَزْعَةً طَارَ عَلَى مَتْنِ فَرَسِهِ فَالْتَمَسَ الْمَوْتَ فِي مَظَانِّهِ أَوْ رَجُلٌ فِي شُعْبَةٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشِّعَابِ أَوْ فِي بَطْنِ وَادٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَوْدِيَةِ فِي غُنَيْمَةٍ لَهُ يُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ وَيَعْبُدُ اللهَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ الْيَقِينُ لَيْسَ مِنَ النَّاسِ إِلَّا فِي خَيْرٍ»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The best condition for people to live in is a man who holds the rein of his horse in the way of Allah; whenever he hears a cry or an alarm, he flies onto the back of his horse, seeking death in its expected places. Or a man in a mountain pass of these passes or in the interior of a valley of these valleys, with a small flock of his, who establishes prayer, gives zakah, and worships Allah until certainty comes to him, having nothing to do with people except in good.”
