✧ The Prophet ﷺ once sent a man to a man from the pharaohs of the Arabs, saying: ‘Call him to me.’ He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, he is too obstinate for that.’ He said: ‘Go to him and call him.’ So he went to him and said: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ calls you.’ He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah? And what is Allah? Is He of gold, or silver, or copper?’ He returned to the Prophet ﷺ and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I told you that he is too obstinate for that,’ and he informed the Prophet ﷺ of what he had said. He said: ‘Return to him and call him.’ So he returned and repeated the first statement to him, and he gave him back the same answer. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He said: ‘Return to him and call him.’ So he went back to him. While they were exchanging words, Allah sent a cloud over his head; it thundered, and a thunderbolt fell from it and carried off the top of his skull. Allah, glorified and exalted is He, revealed: {And He sends thunderbolts and strikes with them whom He wills, while they dispute about Allah; and He is severe in assault} [al-Raʿd: 13].
