أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا أَحَدَ أَغْيَرُ مِنَ اللهِ وَلِذَلِكَ حَرَّمَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَلَا أَحَدَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ الْمَدْحُ مِنَ اللهِ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ الْعَلَاءِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “No one is more jealous than Allah, and for that reason He forbade indecencies, both open and secret; and no one loves praise more than Allah.” The wording is that of Ibn al-ʿAlāʾ.
