أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا قَالَ

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {قُلْ هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِنْ فَوْقِكُمْ} [الأنعام 65] قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ» {أَوْ مِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ} [الأنعام 65] قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ» {أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا} [الأنعام 65] قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «هَذَا أَهْوَنُ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بَعْضُ حُرُوفِ {أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ} [الأنعام 65] لَمْ تَصِحَّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ

Translation

✧ When {Say: He is the Capable of sending upon you a punishment from above you} [al-An'am: 65] was revealed, he said: The Prophet ﷺ said, “I seek refuge in Your countenance.” {Or from beneath your feet} [al-An'am: 65]. The Prophet ﷺ said, “I seek refuge in Your countenance.” {Or confound you into sects} [al-An'am: 65]. The Prophet ﷺ said, “This is lighter.” Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman said: Some of the letters of {or confound you} [al-An'am: 65] were not authentically transmitted from Muhammad.
