أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ نَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَكَ كُنْ فَكُنْتَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ فَسَجَدُوا لَكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ {اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ} [البقرة 35] فَنَهَاكَ عَنْ شَجَرَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ فَعَصَيْتَ رَبَّكَ فَقَالَ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللهَ قَدَّرَ هَذَا عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَقَدْ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى لَقَدْ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى لَقَدْ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Adam and Musa (peace be upon them) argued. Musa said to him: ‘O Adam, Allah created you with His hand, then breathed into you of His spirit, then said to you, “Be,” and you were, then He commanded the angels and they prostrated to you, then He said, {Dwell you and your wife in Paradise and eat from it in abundance wherever you wish, but do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers} [al-Baqarah 35]. He forbade you a single tree, but you disobeyed your Lord.’ Adam said: ‘O Musa, do you not know that Allah decreed this upon me before He created me?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Adam refuted Musa, Adam refuted Musa, Adam refuted Musa.’”
