أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ حَمَّادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ وَهْبٍ أَبُو سُلَيْمَانَ الْجُهَنِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ لَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَالَ

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْنِي قَالَ إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ أَتَانِي فَبَشَّرَنِي أَنَّهُ مَنْ مَاتَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي لَا يُشْرِكُ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا فَلَهُ الْجَنَّةُ قُلْتُ وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ يَقُولُ يَعْنِي جِبْرِيلَ وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ خَالَفَهُمَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said: "Gabriel came to me and gave me glad tidings that whoever of my community dies without associating anything with Allah will have Paradise." I said: "Even if he commits adultery and even if he steals?" He said: "Yes." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, does he—meaning Gabriel—say even if he commits adultery and even if he steals?" He said: "Yes." Al-Hasan b. 'Ubayd Allah disagreed with the two of them.
