✧ What to say when you come to a group and sit with them

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُجَمِّعٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ الْمُنَادِيَ يَقُولُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ قَالَ «وَأَنَا» فَإِذَا سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ قَالَ «وَأَنَا» ثُمَّ سَكَتَ

Translation

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ heard the caller say: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,” he said: “And I.” Then when he heard him say: “I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,” he said: “And I.” Then he became silent.
