أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَرْجِسٍ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ فَأَكَلْتُ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ فَقُلْتُ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «وَلَكَ» قُلْتُ أَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ قَالَ «نَعَمْ وَلَكُمْ» فَقَالَ {وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنْبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ} [محمد 19]

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah and ate from his food and said: May Allah forgive you, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “And you.” I said: I ask forgiveness for you. He said: “Yes, and for you all.” Then he said: {And ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women} [Muhammad 19].
