The Weak Narrators, Liars, and Those Whose Hadith are Avoided

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حُجَيْرٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ قَالَ

أُتِيَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ بِكِتَابٍ فِيهِ قَضَاءُ عَلِيٍّ ؓ فَمَحَاهُ إِلاَّ قَدْرَ وَأَشَارَ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ بِذِرَاعِهِ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. ʿAmr al-Nāqid
  2. Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah
  3. Hishām b. Ḥujayr
  4. Ṭāwus

‘A book was brought to Ibn Abbās which contained the verdicts of Alī, may Allah be pleased with him, and he effaced but a small amount,’ and Sufyān bin Uyaynah indicated with his arm [the amount].
