✧ I said to 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf ؓ: O uncle, tell me about your story on the day of Badr. He ؓ said: Read after the one hundred and twentieth verse of Al 'Imran, and you will find our story: “And when you went forth from your family, assigning the believers positions for battle” to His saying: “that you not falter.” He said: They are those who sought safety from the polytheists, to His saying: “while you were looking on.” He said: It is the believers' wish to meet the enemy, to His saying: “when you slew them by His permission.”
