✧ The Parable of the Righteous Companion

وَقَالَ عَبْدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ، قَالَ:

قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيُّ جُلَسَائِنَا خَيْرٌ ؟ قَالَ ﷺ: مَنْ ذَكَّرَكُمْ بِاللهِ رُؤْيَتُهُ، وَزَادَ فِي عَمَلِكُمْ مَنْطِقُهُ، وَذَكَّرَكُمْ بِالْآخِرَةِ عَمَلُهُ

Translation

✧ It was said: O Messenger of Allah, which of our companions is best? He ﷺ said: The one whose sight reminds you of Allah, whose speech increases you in good deeds, and whose actions remind you of the Hereafter.
