✧ Warning Against Severing Family Ties

وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِدَامٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
« لَا تَنْزِلُ الرَّحْمَةُ عَلَى قَوْمٍ فِيهِمْ قَاطِعُ رَحِمٍ »، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ جُلْسَانِهِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لِي خَالَةٌ لَمْ أُكَلِّمْهَا ؟ فَقَالَ ﷺ: « قُمْ إِلَيْهَا فَكَلِّمْهَا
Translation

✧ Mercy does not descend upon a people among whom there is a severer of family ties. A man from among his companions said: 'O Messenger of God, I have a maternal aunt whom I do not speak to.' He ﷺ said: 'Go to her and speak to her.'
